Digital Painting in Krita
As you might have noticed I’ve mentioned Krita in my posts before. It is an open-source digital art program. Painting and sketching in Krita is a joy. You can learn more about Krita at its website - krita.org.
Krita Custom Pencil Brush
Krita (like most other digital art programs) allows one to create, share and use custom brushes. Krita users from all over the world have created many custom brushes for all kinds of painting and sketching scenarios. This post is about a digital painting study of a still-life done using an excellent collection of pencil brushes created by Krita user “RamonM” at SK Sketching in Krita V1. I really enjoyed sketching with these pencil brushes while making the still-life below. The versatility of the pencil in representing shape, and tone are unmatched. It is an artist’s best friend. I was happy to find these brushes so that I can practice using the same medium in digital.
Still-life & Composition
One of the important aspects of still-life study is composition. The objects chosen, their shapes, their position relative to each other, and the choice of lighting can all create a narrative. I found this excellent photograph of a kettle and cup on Pinterest, and it is attractive despite the mundane items in the picture. I hope I did justice to the photograph, and you enjoy this sketch.
Have a super day,
