A bar of soap and a bottle of shampoo
In our households we live surrounded by objects designed by others. Our contribution is their selection and arrangement. Even the bar of soap or the bottle of shampoo and its contents are designed by professionals. However, every selection and arrangement of even these toiletries is our own individual creation. We arrange these in ways that suit our individual aesthetics and utility.
The arrangement of everyday things in our living spaces is clearly in harmony with our own individual nature, or that of our family. It is like a flower arrangement only for our own eyes.
I found this chance arrangement of a bar of soap and a shampoo bottle quite pleasing, and I decided to paint it. I’m sure there are such arrangements in your own house which make you feel calm and at home.
